Audio Pre-Order Sale

Nightborn will be my first novel released in audio as well as print and e-book, and Tantor Audio has the CD and MP3 editions on sale for 50% off if you pre-order now. The story will be read by Johanna Parker, who has a lovely voice with amazing range, and who has narrated among many works the audio editions of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series as well as Stephanie Tyler's Shadow Force novels.

Mine is not the only title on sale; there are also other plenty of other audio books featured in the 50% off sale at Tantor's site, from nonfiction on Presidents & Heads of State, Cultural Heritage books in honor of Black History Month, and (just in time for Valentine's Day) lots of excellent romance novels.

I listen to audio books in the car whenever I'm on a road trip, but they're also great when I'm sewing or taking a break on the porch (I can't cook when I listen to books; I always end up burning something.) Audio editions also make great gifts for a commuter or someone who has to travel a lot for work, or simply wants something to listen to other than radio or television.

  2. Haha audio books drive me nuts! I remember driving to the beach with a friend and we were listening to an audio book of one of Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider books. Haha!

  3. Wheeee! I am buying this in the print version with my ren fair money. The only time I listen to things in the car is when my 5 year old is with me, and I am guessing she should not listen to some of it. ;-) Incidentally, I have always wondered how voice actors handle the naughty bits in a book. I am sure they are pros and read it without stammering or blushing, something I could NOT do. But I am sort of a Prudey McBaptistpants. Ha. Yay for new releases! I just finished Nightshine after staying up wayyyy too late. Loved it!

Do you have any idea why it´s not available overseas? This happens a lot - esp. with nice price downloads.

I love audio book listening in the car, but most of the time I listen in bed. I have a bit of anxiety, and I've always had trouble turning off the worry so that I can go to sleep. Listening to an audiobook allows me to jump off the worry track, I relax and fall asleep. Sometimes I find myself pulling the earbuds at 2 am! Next time, I start up again at the last point I can remember.

An excellent audio book performer can do all the individual voices and convey the emotion of the characters. I've never listened to Johanna Parker, but I just love Renee Raudman, who performs Ilona Andrews' books.

Have to confess I have preordered the paperback but would love a chance at an audio give away. I am addicted to listening to stories, especially in the car. Although when there are sad parts and I have been crying as I listen, then go into a meeting with mascara running down my cheeks, I do get some very concerned looks!

  10. @GayLee: Thanks, I like to poke fun at me before anyone else can. :-) I really should give audio books a try, especially if they do mp3 downloads. I could put it on my ipod and see if it helps me stay on the treadmill longer. If I am being tortured, I might as well listen to something interesting while doing so.

  11. I love audio books! When I'm doing a test drive and have 8 hours with nothing to do, they're the best entertainment of all. :o)

  12. Congrats on this huge achievement! I'm a writer myself and am working hard to find an agent. Seeing other writers move ahead is a great encouragement, which is why I have followed your blog (feel free to follow mine as well if you like!). I look forward to hearing more about what you're accomplishing!
